Capitol Kicks Staff Members
Founder & President
David Hidalgo
Capitol Kicks founder, David Hidalgo, has been playing soccer since age 5. After a successful tenure at St. John’s College High School and on the BSC (Bethesda Soccer Club) Cannons, David was recruited to play soccer at the collegiate level. David decided to attend college locally at Catholic University of America, where he was able to join the soccer team his junior year, and served as captain his senior year.
Since graduating from Catholic University of America with a degree in Psychology, David has worked in education, first as a Program Coordinator for Playworks with Americorps at Tyler Elementary in Eastern Market, then as a P.E. teacher and taught 1st Grade students at Brent Elementary on Capitol Hill. Although he loves playing soccer with his students, David also keeps his skills sharp by playing in several adult leagues in DC like District Sports, and Buena Futbol FC in the Washington International Soccer League.

Brent Elementary Head Coach
Coach Mazza
This is my fifth year coaching with Capitol Kicks. I am extremely pleased and fortunate to work alongside Coach David, teaching the sport I love to Brent's many talented students!
My own love affair with the global sport of calcio -- or foosball, football, fútbol, or soccer! -- began when I was very young, watching the English teams on television with my father. It was in Germany where I first began kicking the ball around, however, eventually playing with several travel clubs before moving back stateside with my family. Though I played multiple sports in high school, it was ultimately soccer that grabbed (and kept) my heart. My career as a footballer culminated in Huntsville, Alabama, where I got the chance to play for Rocket City United (a semi-professional team), an experience I'll never forget.

Photographer/Videographer & Coach
Coach Dan
I have been playing soccer since 5 years old. Since then I can't remember a time when I didn't have a ball at my feet or at least thought about having a soccer ball at my feet. Growing up in DC, I played for the Bethesda Cannons for over 10 years and also played four years of varsity soccer at the Maret School. After high school I played a year of Div. 1 soccer at the College of the Holy Cross, before pursuing other academic and recreational ventures.
Since graduating from Holy Cross with a Sociology degree, I have immersed myself in the field of Education I have also made sure to bring play and phyiscal activities to supplement academic and after school programs. My work experiences include coaching HS soccer, 3 years as a Program Coordinator at Playworks (Boston), and currently being the Program and Recruiting Director for TIC Summer Camp, a technology and sports camp in DC. Soccer is still a huge part of my life so when I'm not playing in adult leagues, good chance I am watching one of my favorite teams play!
